Viscose — Issue 8: Sound

The eighth issue of Viscose, the journal of fashion criticism, on the music and sound that surround clothes, from the catwalk to the nightclub.

Jeppe Ugelvig edited it with three co-editors, Bill Kouligas, Thomas Laprade and Stacy Skolnik, and Montez Press Radio in New York was a partner. The essays take in the music chosen for fashion shows, the background sound of shops, the 1980s New York club zine Project X, Leigh Bowery's way of joining sound and dress, a video and audio installation by Valentina Triet that takes apart the experience of a fashion show, and the notion that serious musicians are meant not to care about clothes. There is also a set of ideal fashion playlists.

Contributors include Mark Leckey, Seth Price, Terre Thaemlitz, Hanne Lippard, Dan Fox, Aisha Devi, Frédéric Sanchez and Michel Gaubert. The issue is conventionally bound with square pages and packed in a plastic cover designed to look like a record sleeve. Creative direction is by Filip Samuel Berg.
