OK-RM — A Meaningful Order
About
A survey of more than sixteen years of work by OK-RM, the design studio of Oliver Knight and Rory McGrath.
The book grew out of conversations with James Langdon, held in London and Berlin, and its structure became clear when the material was shown as an exhibition in Hangzhou. Twenty-six chapters, ordered from A to Z, are set down in what the publisher calls designerly writing, which leans on storytelling and a performative use of language.
Designed objects are pictured for what they are, reproduced by lithography in a special palette of colours, and the production was worked out with DZA in Altenburg. The poet Lila Matsumoto wrote the introduction, and the book includes a long interview with Jack Self.
