Record Culture Magazine — Issue 11
About
The eleventh issue of Record Culture, a print magazine about the people inside niche music communities in many parts of the world, and its first new issue since 2022.
The magazine was founded in 2016 in New York's Chinatown and is edited by Karl Henkell. Its pages are given over to long interviews and to photographs taken where its subjects live and work. Issue 11 features Fraser Cooke, Nicolas Godin, Jean Touitou, Kiki Kudo, Paul Takahashi, Ariel Zetina, Jamie Tiller, Frankie Teardrop, Sound Metaphors and OKO DJ, and decks, speakers, mixing desks and a good deal of vinyl turn up throughout the portraits. Luke Jenner contributes a short story, Plant Bar, and Eddie Ruscha's artworks appear in a visual feature titled Sound / Waves.
Two booklets accompany the issue. One, The Invitations of Life... Child!, reproduces a selection of 1970s New York club flyers kept by Nicky Siano. In the other, You Can Hear Your Own Heartbeat: A Day at Audio-Technica, Kento Mori photographs the company's headquarters in Tokyo.
Record Creative Limited, 2026. 208 pages, perfect-bound softcover, 16 x 23 cm. With two softcover supplements of 52 and 60 pages.
