Matas Petrikas — The Joy of Electronic Music
About
A small book about making electronic music, written for people who own a synthesizer or two and wish they found more time to use them.
Matas Petrikas produced a few tracks that did well in Lithuania in the 1990s and spoke about Berlin techno on the radio, then joined SoundCloud's early team in the 2000s. Over time he came to feel that his real contribution lay less in his own records than in getting younger people interested in electronic music and in helping to build the technology they work with. He links this to Brian Eno's view that technology moves music on as much as artists do.
Petrikas presents the book as neither a work of research nor a biography, but something to keep within reach in the studio or pack for a gig, with answers and encouragement for young producers.
139 pages, paperback, 11.5 x 18 cm. English.
