Popeye — Issue 949

The May 2026 issue of Popeye, Magazine House's fashion and culture magazine for city boys, given over to cars and the people who drive them.

The feature, "Me and My Car", begins with 51 owners photographed with their cars in Japan, the United States, South Korea, Italy and Denmark. A Popeye Car Life Seminar follows in three parts: finding a first car, looking after it, and restoring or customising it. Two road trips, each with a single night away, go to Ise and to Izu; 29 things are picked to make time in the car more pleasant; and a karuta card game teaches the words met when looking for a car or visiting a dealer.

Owners describe growing up alongside their cars, among them Yoshihiko Inohara, formerly of the groups V6 and 20th Century, who is now on his fourteenth. A set of columns on car makers, car communities and history rounds off the feature. The issue also carries the regular Popeye Journal pages, where the columns include music and film.
