Joe Lai — Pinku

Sixty-four pages of staged portraits by the French photographer Joe Lai, who builds each frame out of hard shadow, colour and a single figure. Nostalgia drives the work: bodies posed against flat grounds, faces half-withheld, an atmosphere borrowed from an earlier era of picture-making. Hardcover with dust jacket, designed and edited by Jurgen Maelfeyt, in an edition of 750 copies.
