Édouard Glissant & Hans Ulrich Obrist — The Archipelago Conversations
About
A pocket-sized book of conversations between the Martinican philosopher Édouard Glissant and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Born in 1928 in Sainte-Marie, on Martinique, Glissant died in Paris in 2011. Scholars around the world have turned to his Poetics of Relation to make sense of how a multicultural world changes, and his idea of a right to opacity asks that difference be accepted rather than measured against a single standard.
isolarii presents the book as a first way into his thinking for a general reader, and as something to use in building a world whose parts depend on one another. It is number 6 in the isolarii series. Emma Ramadan translated the conversations, and Trinh T. Minh-ha wrote the foreword.
