Walking as Embodied Worldmaking: Bodies, Borders, Knowledgescapes
About
A reader on walking, edited by Lea Maria Spahn, that approaches it both as a cultural practice and as something lived through the body.
Artists and social scientists contribute texts and visual work, drawing on phenomenology, artistic practice and research method. They look at walks made through particular landscapes and at the ties such walks form between bodies, knowledge, places, feelings and materials, including the way a route can run across political territories and borders. Spahn writes the introduction. Among the other contributors are Shira Wachsmann, Otto Kauppinen, Maja Maksimović, Antonín Brinda, Mariele Weber, Dorothea Hamilton, Eva Clara Tenzler, Darija Medić with Mirjana Utvić, and the duo inka°witz.
The book was made with the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. It was designed by Kristýna Krejčová and Kristýna Žáčková, printed in Vilnius and has 122 colour images.
