Lina Bo Bardi — Casa de Vidro (GA Residential Masterpieces 22)
About
Volume 22 of GA's Residential Masterpieces series, devoted to the Glass House that Lina Bo Bardi built in São Paulo in 1950-51.
Before moving to Brazil, Bo Bardi had been an editor at Domus in Italy. The Glass House was the first building she designed in full after she settled there, and she lived in it with her husband. Raised on slender columns among dense trees, it is now registered as a national heritage site. Gio Ponti, Max Bill and Aldo van Eyck were among its visitors.
The volume was planned and photographed by Yukio Futagawa (1932-2013), with text and editing by Yoshio Futagawa. Of its 52 pages, 32 are in colour, and the text runs in Japanese and English.
