Sixty years of Dutch graphic design, gathered for his first solo show at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
Martens has designed books, stamps, coins, telephone cards and every issue of the architecture journal OASE, while teaching half the designers in the Netherlands and co founding Werkplaats Typografie. This book skips the retrospective format. Work from the exhibition is collaged, overprinted and mixed with things found around his studio, in no hierarchy and no chronology.
Designed with Jordi de Vetten and Sujin Lee, with an exposed spine that shows the binding.
