David Horvitz — How to Shoplift Books
About
An artist's book written as a manual, setting out eighty ways to steal a book.
David Horvitz's suggestions run from the plainly practical to the witty, the fanciful and the romantic; one is to conceal the book in an artificial rock. Written as instructions and sold through bookshops, it quietly takes apart how books are sold, and how readers behave as shoppers.
The text first appeared in 2013. This perfect-bound paperback, co-published by Printed Matter and Edition Taube, was first issued in April 2019, and a later printing has followed. Edition Taube's list also includes versions in other languages, each made with a partner publisher, among them French with Yvon Lambert, German with Mark Pezinger and Danish with Lodret Vandret.
Printed Matter and Edition Taube. 84 pages, paperback, 10.5 x 15.5 cm. In English.
