Bruno Munari — Xerografia

A facsimile of Bruno Munari's Xerografia, the book Rank Xerox published for the 35th Venice Biennale in 1970.

Munari was one of the first artists to put the photocopier to creative use. His documented experiments with the Xerox 914 date from 1963: by moving an original across the glass while the machine scanned it, he made distorted, one-off images instead of copies, and he kept returning to the method for the rest of his career.

The 1970 volume, fully titled Bruno Munari Xerografia. Documentazione sull'uso creativo delle macchine Rank Xerox, set out his process in detail. It was not for sale and was presented at the Biennale, where Munari also had a Rank Xerox copier set up in the Central Pavilion for the public. Zanichelli issued a revised version in 1977 as Xerografie originali.

Saint-Martin Bookshop in Brussels published this reprint as its own edition, for the exhibition Bruno Munari Xerografia shown there from 22 April to 13 June 2026. It comes with a four-page booklet carrying a text by Gabriella Zalapì, in English, French, Italian or Japanese.
