A Bestiary of the Anthropocene: Hybrid plants, animals, minerals, fungi, and other specimens
About
A field guide to the hybrid creatures of the present, modelled on the bestiaries of the Middle Ages.
Its specimens are things in which nature and technology have become hard to tell apart: plastiglomerates, fordite, artificial grass, antenna trees, surveillance robots, pathogens and altered landscapes. Written entries on them are joined by essays that ask what can still count as natural when technology is everywhere. Nicolas Nova edited the book with Maria Roszkowska and Nicolas Maigret and wrote its introduction. Contributors include Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing, Benjamin Bratton, Geoffrey C. Bowker, Michel Lussault, Alexandre Monnin, Matthieu Duperrex and Pierre-Olivier Dittmar.
Roszkowska made the 90 illustrations, printed as duotones in metallic silver on Genesis Black paper.
